Founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, Yalumba is Australia's oldest family-owned winery, based at 40 Eden Valley Road, Angaston in the Barossa Valley. The winery produces a dedicated range of ACO certified organic wines and has converted its historic Steeple Vineyard at Light Pass (planted 1919) to both organic and biodynamic certification — making it one of the most significant sustainably farmed sites in the Barossa. Yalumba also operates the Southern Hemisphere's only active barrel-making cooperage, and all its wines have been 100% vegan since 2012. The cellar door at Angaston is open for tastings of wines spanning Barossa, Eden Valley and Coonawarra, including Viognier, Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon.
