Sorrenberg is one of Beechworth's most admired small producers — a 3-hectare estate on sandy granite soils at 560 metres, certified Demeter biodynamic since 2008 by the Biodynamic Research Institute. The Morey family brings over 500 years of winemaking heritage tracing to Germany's Mosel River, now expressed through cool-climate Chardonnay, Gamay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Semillon and Pinot Noir. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented at the vineyard and aged in French barriques — production is deliberately tiny and each wine is vineyard-specific.
