Mount Horrocks Wines is one of Clare Valley's most celebrated organic and biodynamic producers, with all three estate vineyards — totalling ten hectares — holding full Australian Certified Organic (ACO) certification, organic since 2014 and biodynamic since 2020. Owner-winemaker Stephanie Toole produces no more than 2,500 cases per vintage from single vineyards, crafting seven wines: Riesling, Semillon, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d'Avola, Rosé and the iconic Cordon Cut Riesling — a late-harvest style that was served to Queen Elizabeth II at her 80th birthday. The cellar door is set inside Auburn's beautifully restored 1890s railway station and is open every weekend and public holiday 10am–5pm, with an adjoining biodynamic herb garden visitors can explore.
Yes. All three of Mount Horrocks' estate Clare Valley vineyards are certified by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) — organic since 2014 and biodynamic since 2020. The winery makes its own biodynamic sprays on-site.
Seven single-vineyard wines are made: Riesling (Watervale), Cordon Cut Riesling (late harvest), Semillon, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d'Avola and a Rosé — all ACO certified organic and biodynamic.
The cellar door is in the beautifully restored Auburn Railway Station (Old Railway Station, Auburn SA 5451) and is open every weekend and public holiday from 10am to 5pm.
The Cordon Cut Riesling is Mount Horrocks' signature late-harvest dessert-style wine, made by cutting the cane and leaving grapes to concentrate on the vine. It was served at Queen Elizabeth II's 80th birthday celebration.
