Established in 1978 by Sue and Dave Carpenter, Lark Hill Winery sits at 860 metres elevation above Bungendore — one of the highest-altitude vineyards in the Canberra District. The estate has held NASAA-certified biodynamic status since 2008 (transitioning from 2003), placing it among Australia's most committed biodynamic producers. Lark Hill also made history as the creator of Australia's first commercial Grüner Veltliner in 2009, from cuttings planted in 2004. The estate grows Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Grüner Veltliner, with wines matched to regional seasonal produce in the onsite Vineyard Restaurant.
Lark Hill Winery is certified biodynamic through NASAA (National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia). Biodynamic certification was granted in 2006 and all Lark Hill estate wines have carried "Certified Biodynamic" labelling since 2008. No synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or pesticides are used on the estate.
Estate wines include Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Grüner Veltliner. Lark Hill is most celebrated for producing Australia's first commercial Grüner Veltliner, from vines planted in 2004 and first released in 2009.
