Lake Moodemere Estate is a single-vineyard estate at 12 Moodemere Road, Rutherglen VIC, where vines have grown continuously since 1886. In August 2021 it became the first vineyard in North East Victoria to achieve Certified Sustainable status under the Australian Wine Industry Standard of Sustainable Practice — a certification backed by the complete elimination of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilisers (replaced by on-site sheep grazing and organic manure). In February 2025, the estate became the first winery in North East Victoria to achieve Carbon Neutral Certification with Climate Active, making it one of only six wine businesses in Australia to hold this status. Lake Moodemere is not certified organic, but its commitment to sustainable and chemical-free viticulture is among the most rigorous in the region. All wines are made from estate-grown Shiraz, Durif, Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, and small parcels of Cinsault and Grenache Blanc. Visitors can enjoy a cellar door (open daily 10am–5pm), the Lakeside Restaurant — which sources produce directly from the farm — and waterfront accommodation.
