About

Founded in 1988 by Barrie Smith and Judi Cullam, Frankland Estate is one of Australia's most respected certified-organic wineries, achieving organic certification in 2009. Every bottle carries fruit from the single, organically grown Isolation Ridge vineyard at Frankland Road, Frankland, WA — an isolated property 330 km south of Perth planted on distinctive coffee-rock soils (ironstone gravel over clay) that give the wines a characteristically savoury, cool-climate finesse. Huon Hooke has called it "one of the great vineyards of Australia" and Jancis Robinson MW praised the family's ecological sensitivity. Wine Club members (the "Frankophiles") enjoy priority access and special releases. The cellar door is open Monday to Friday; weekend visits are warmly accommodated by appointment — a family member typically leads the tasting.
