Clayfield Wines has been producing limited quantities of premium Grampians Shiraz from its Moyston property, in the foothills of western Victoria's Grampians range, since 1999. Winemaker Simon Clayfield — who brings more than three decades of industry experience — personally manages vineyard operations including seasonal pruning and irrigation, and uses traditional minimal-intervention methods: a trusty hand-operated basket press, no added tannins, and no colour enhancers. The flagship Black Label Grampians Shiraz showcases the elegant, site-specific flavours the Grampians region is known for. No organic certification has been confirmed, but the philosophy is firmly one of letting the fruit speak for itself.
Clayfield is a single-variety specialist: limited-production Grampians Shiraz, with the flagship Black Label Grampians Shiraz representing the estate's best fruit each vintage.
The vineyard is situated at 25 Wilde Lane, Moyston, Victoria 3377, in the Grampians wine region of western Victoria.
Clayfield uses traditional minimal-intervention techniques, including a hand-operated basket press. No tannins or colour enhancers are added — the aim is to let the Grampians fruit and terroir express themselves.
Organic certification is not listed on the winery's website. The approach is minimal-intervention, but certification has not been confirmed — contact the winery directly for details.
