Brash Higgins Wine Co is an ACO-certified organic producer at the Omensetter Winery & Vineyard on Malpas Road, McLaren Vale, planted in 1997 on the southwestern edge of the region with views to the Willunga Escarpment and the Gulf of St Vincent. The winery is best known for introducing Nero d’Avola to McLaren Vale — its debut 2011 release challenged assumptions about both the grape and the region — and for a distinctive practice of fermenting wines in locally made clay amphoras. The range also includes Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Pecorino, all grown organically and made with minimal intervention. There is no walk-in cellar door; tastings are by appointment via wine@brashhiggins.com.
Yes. Brash Higgins holds ACO (Australian Certified Organic) certification for its Omensetter Vineyard in McLaren Vale.
Brash Higgins ferments some wines in clay amphoras made locally in South Australia — a rare technique in Australia that delivers textural, minimal-intervention wines with genuine character.
The estate produces Nero d'Avola, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Pecorino — a notably diverse and Italian-influenced range for McLaren Vale.
There is no permanent open cellar door. Tastings can be arranged by appointment — contact the winery at wine@brashhiggins.com to organise a visit.
