Ben Potts represents the sixth generation of his family to grow grapes in Langhorne Creek, South Australia — a lineage stretching back to Frank Potts, founder of the historic Bleasdale Vineyards. Ben launched his own label in 2002 after completing an oenology degree at Charles Sturt University, sourcing fruit from three individually expressive family blocks: Fiddle's Block (Shiraz, named for great-grandfather Henry Fiddle), Lenny's Block (Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec, named for grandfather Len) and Bill's Block (Malbec, named for father Bill). Vines are hand-tended using a natural farming philosophy; wines are bottled unfiltered and unfined for maximum character.
Ben Potts Wines uses a natural farming philosophy with hand-tended vines, but does not publicly state formal organic certification. The wines are bottled unfiltered and unfined.
The range focuses on red wines: Fiddle's Block Shiraz, Lenny's Block Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec, and Bill's Block Malbec — each named after a family member.
The vineyards are in the Langhorne Creek wine region of South Australia, a cool-climate area near Lake Alexandrina renowned for soft, fruit-forward red wines.
Ben Potts Wines is associated with The Winehouse in Langhorne Creek, which is open daily 10am–4pm and stocks the range for tasting and purchase.
