About

Alkoomi Wines is one of WA's largest family-owned estates, farming 105 hectares on the Frankland River — one of the Great Southern's most remote and celebrated wine regions. Founded in 1971 by Merv and Judy Lange and now stewarded by four generations of the family, Alkoomi grows Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Grenache and a wide range of other varietals with no herbicides or pesticides; guinea fowl, sheep, composted marc and solar-powered irrigation replace synthetic inputs. Winemaker Marelize Russouw takes a minimalist approach, preserving Frankland River's cool-climate character in wines available for tasting at two cellar doors — at the winery and in Albany.
